Sarah's Field was gifted to the town by, Mrs Pamela Angela Thorpe, for the enjoyment of the residents of Berkeley. A condition of the gift is to make the area a Wildlife Water Meadow. Mrs Thorpe also asked the council to name the field after her Grandmother Sarah. The field was formerly known as Lynch Ground.
Work has begun, including creating a pond and small marshland area, a dipping platform, benches, native plants and trees, close mown paths, fences, gates, bins and information boards. It is expected that the project will take approximately a year to complete. The council has appointed Stroud Valleys Project to manage and carry out the work. The work will take place one day a week and will mostly be carried out by volunteers who will be recruited by Stroud Valleys Project.
