Sarah's Field was gifted to the town by, Mrs Angela Thorne, for the enjoyment of the residents of Berkeley. A condition of the gift is to make the area a Wildlife Water Meadow. Mrs Thorne also asked the council to name the field after her Mother Sarah. The field was formerly known as Lynch Ground.
Work will soon begin, including creating a pond and small marshland area, a dipping platform, benches, native plants and trees, close mown paths, fences, gates, bins and information boards. It is expected that the project will take approximately a year to complete. The council has appointed Stroud Valleys Project to manage and carry out the work. the work will take place one day a week and will mostly be carried out by volunteers who will be recruited by Stroud Valleys Project.
